Costume Interpretation - La Cenerentola
La Cenerentola, and Italian opera based on the fairytale of Cinderella, was a production of the Royal Welsh College opera course. The concept has Cinderella placed in the modern 2018 world, until she reads the book, La Cenerentola, and is transported into the story. You subsequently see letters and pages from the book creeping up onto the costumes of all the characters as Cinderella is seeing her life through the filter of the story. This particular garment that I made was for Cinderella's entrance to the ball. The gown consists of an underdress that has a skirt made of printed fabric and a fitted, partially boned bodice, an gauze overskirt, and a hand-dyed and draped overbodice.
